Crane Maintenance Training

The crane maintenance training course is specifically designed for Engineers, Supervisors and Artisans who are involved in the maintenance of cranes, hoists and general lifting equipment.

The Course has a comprehensive focus on the product surrounding Legislation and Standards, where we transfer a little of our many years experience in the industry to people who can use the knowledge gained to the benefit of the individual and the Company.

Course Contents (5 Days)

Topics to be covered on Days 1, 2, 3 and 5

  • Crane and Hoist Components Terminology
  • Legislation
  • Manufacturing Standards
  • Duty Classifications
  • Crane Structures – Girders, End Carriages, Crab Frames, Wheel Blocks, etc
  • Crane and Gantry Survey
  • Wire Rope Hoist Units
  • Service / Examination Procedures
  • Load Testing Procedures
  • Site Certificates
  • Wire Rope and Chain
  • Chain Hoist Units
  • Group Sessions
  • Crane General Components – Rope Drums, Gearboxes, Brakes, Couplings, Gears, Bearings, Bottom Blocks, Hooks Rope pulleys, Buffers Drive / Trailing Wheels, End Stops, Motors, Drive units, etc.

Day 4

Is Spent Working on Crane and Hoist under Site Conditions, while covering the following topics:

  • Service / Examination Procedures
  • Load Testing Procedures
  • Site Certificates
  • Crane Structures – Girders, End Carriages, Crab Frames
  • Group Sessions
  • Crane General Components – Rope Drums, Gearboxes, Brakes, Couplings, Gears, Bearings, Bottom Blocks, Hooks, Rope Pulleys, Buffers.
  • The Practical includes fault finding, identification of components, etc.

Cost

R8100.00 excluding VAT per delegate. – The fees must be paid on the day of completion.

Hotel accommodation and travelling expenses for our training manager and technician or your delegates are not included in the rates and will be for your account.

Location

The course will be held at Morris Material Handling Training Centre, Apex Benoni.

The course can also be conducted at your site with a minimum requirement of a lecture facility, audio-visual equipment such as a video machine, T.V. and a white board should be available. An overhead crane should be freely available for the duration of the course.

The above course will be held from 12 – 16 March 2012

Times

The course starts at 08h00 and finishes at 16h00 from Monday to Friday. Tea and Lunch will be served at Morris Material Handling each day.

Lecturer

The Course will be presented by Johan Du Plessis.

  • He has been in the Crane Industry for the past 28 Years
  • 15 Years in Training.
  • Technical / Project Manager
  • Part of Team who draft Legislation for Department of Labour as per Regulation 18 (5) Department of Labour
  • Accredited Assessor ETDP Seta and ECSA Engineering Council and Technical Diploma

The course will be co-ordinated by a Morris Material Handling Training Manager. He will be assisted for the practical side by a qualified crane technician.
